Years ago, when I was backpacking across Western Europe, I was just outside of Barcelona, hiking in the foothills of mount Tibidabo. I was at the end of this path, and I came to a clearing, and there was a lake, very secluded, and there were tall trees all around. It was dead silent.

To take a break from the monotony of life and travel for an extended period of time is an experience several dream of yet seldom pursue. Having taken this past semester off from college to backpack through Europe has opened my eyes to a much larger and more diverse world than what you find in your average Californian suburb.
Great article Tom, very useful information! Me and my girlfriend are from Canada and backpacking Western Europe for the first time, landing in Scotland May 2nd, flying out of Spain June 9th. We were thinking of doing the same thing and splurging a bit in Paris and getting a cheap hotel for the five or so days we plan on being there.
12/27/2012 · There are no hordes of tourists taking turns making a jump shot. It’s just you and the occasional wanderers walking around Oia and Fira’s sharp corners and meandering alleys. It was the perfect place for me to take a rest on my 7th week of solo backpacking in Europe .
Hi guys, I graduated last summer and have taken a year off from school to readjust my life and plan stuff out. Anyways, I’ve been toying with the idea of doing a backpacking trip around Europe for the past year and have recently decided to do it before the fall semester starts. I’ll be 19 in March it that helps anything.
7/2/2010 · To finance my 30-day trip to Europe , I took out a $4,000 student loan from UCLA and bought my plane tickets, hostel-lodging, as well as my travel expenses. Granted that $4,000 isn’t chump change, in my opinion it was a very small cost to fulfill one of my dreams in life, which was to go backpacking through Europe .
12/18/2020 · Backpacking in Europe is never going to be as cheap as backpacking in Venezuela, for example. Staying in hotels every night, drinking like a fish, eating out for every meal, going to pubs all night, and booking last minute trains will certainly destroy any budget you might have hoped to keep. Backpacking in Ireland is no different.
10/19/2020 · I hitchhiked my way across Europe , sleeping in the rock-cut caves of Cappadocia, before making my way into mysterious Iran where I met Nina. From Iran, I travelled to Pakistan, hiking deep into the Himalayas and Couchsurfing with locals in some truly far-flung places. Next up, I drove a multicoloured Tuk Tuk, Tinkerbell, 2000km across India.
